Temptation Alley
The Temptation Alley activity involves two participants, such as a couple. With this activity, an alleyway is built with various turns and widths, and is filled with hay, grain, obstacles, and other potentially attractive or fearful items to the horse. The participants must then lead their horse through the alleyway without allowing the horse to eat anything, leave the alleyway, or knock anything over. Each client must hold a lead rope with only one hand at the very end of the rope, while also staying on the outside of the alleyway.
In this activity, the horse becomes a metaphor for temptation that the clients are facing, such as addictions, gang pressure, or eating disorders. The processing that follows this activity can take many different directions. One such direction might be where the participants focused -- On the horse, each other, the addictions, or the goal -- and what effects did this have on the horse.
